It’s your wedding. Although it was an exhausting week, you’re happy. But if you look carefully at your bridesmaids, they are not exulting. It’s your big day and you think they at least should be happy for you, right? Well, they may be happy for you, but not with the bridesmaid dresses you picked. What went wrong?

The Bridesmaids Matter

It’s your wedding all right, but that doesn’t mean that you’re the only one who should look beautiful. Your bridesmaids play a big role in the ceremony and they should look fantastic, confident, and oozing with poise. A lot of this depends on the bridesmaid dresses you picked.

Choosing the right bridesmaid dresses is even more important than choosing the wedding photographer and the florist. You’re buying or renting dresses for your bridesmaid who are your bosom friends. When the bride loses sight of the importance of the bridesmaids’ gowns or dresses, things are sure to boomerang on the wedding day.

Well, the bride may delay giving the bridesmaids clear instructions about the purchase of the dresses until her own wedding dress and everything in-between is settled. When the date nears her wedding day, she panics, picks out a design she likes best without consulting the bridesmaids, and sends it all out to them.

When the bridesmaids try them on, the measurements are all wrong and there’s nothing much she can do but rush it to the bridal shop for some alterations. The agony the bridesmaids have to go through just to assemble themselves for the wedding day can be mind boggling and if they have to wear lumpy dresses – that would be too much.

Of course, they’ll put on a smile, but your wedding won’t be as pleasantly memorable to them as it is to you. They’ll recoil at the thought of what they had to endure. You should remember that your choice of bridesmaid dresses may not necessarily actually look good on your bridesmaids. That’s precisely why you shop for the dresses with your bridesmaids so they can put in their two cents worth.

Make Your Bridesmaids Happy With the Right Dress

If you want to make your bridesmaids as happy as you are on the big day, you should get them bridesmaid dresses that would bring out the best in them. Here are some friendly tips to get you through:

* Allow them to pick a few designs they like and have them all try on the same dress. Then choose narrow down your choices to at least three.

* Tell them what you have in mind, but don’t forget to ask them about their thoughts or ideas on the dresses. Ask them what they like and what they’re comfortable with. And with their help, choose a dress that looks good on all of them. This is not always possible, though, if you’re working around a budget.

Women have different bodies and skin tones. In this case, the best thing to do (that is if your budget allows you to) is to reach a compromise. A great way to do this is by getting each bridesmaid a dress of their choice. Just pick out a material of the same color that can be used on all dresses so that they look coordinated and choose a color scheme that will complement their skin tones.

This way, the bridesmaid dresses will serve the wearers while still blending perfectly with your motif. In the end, everybody is happy – the bridesmaids with their dresses and yourself for the job well done.
