Do our wedding rings have to match?

My partner and i are getting married in August. My engagement ring is gold, because i wanted to use my late mothers. My partner is not a big fan of gold, and would like a silver or white gold wedding ring. Do our wedding rings have to match? Or does it even matter if i have a gold engagement ring and silver or white gold wedding ring?! Also, can someone please tell me what in the colour scheme has to match please? I’m struggling to decide on colours and getting very confused!! Thank you soooo much for any help!

i am getting married in italy this august and have wanted a natural rustic theme all along but the dress i have chosen is quite roman / grecian, what kind of bouquet would compliment it? should i stick with a small rustic bouquet or go long, streamlined and elegant? the only long flowers i can think of are calla lilies but i am not sure on these.

Should bridesmaids shoes be similar to the bridal shoes? Or, should all bridesmaids wear the same type of shoes? These basic questions will deluge your mind. But this should not eat you up. Here is a suggestion that would help you make the right choice: your wedding dress motif is your point of reference.

Of course, a bride’s gown is distinctive. It definitely would not be the same as the bridesmaids. It is already given that the bride is the focus of attention during the wedding. Your gown would be the visible piece to draw a distinction.

Your appearance in general should be coherent.  For example, bridesmaids must not wear formal gowns for weddings with slack suits theme. Even if the bride wears a formal gown, your options for your bridesmaids are either to wear cookie cutter or distinct dresses.

One lovely idea is to have a one whole analogous design but with various details. Off-shoulder gowns are also perfect for bridesmaids especially if the design is somewhat similar. If you go for long train or simply floor length ones, the bridesmaids’ dresses will not have that Cinderella train in their gown. Post modern short types of gowns are appropriate in that particular theme.

At that point, you can now put in individual details to your bridesmaids gown. Varying colors of ribbons are alright.

You might wonder why we suddenly shift to bridesmaids’ gowns when in fact we were talking about shoes. Well, the vital point is that, if you have put in artistic details on the gown, then refrain from doing the same in finding their shoes. The hint there is to do the similar trick in their shoes to match the gowns or you can choose shoes that will contrast their gowns.

So do you have the liberty to choose any fabric for shoes? Basic principle here is, it does not need to match exactly as the gown. But of course, shoes should not overhang the overall appearance of your bridesmaids. Slight and fine contrast is the rule of thumb here. Remember that the gowns and the shoes must complement one another.

Safe choice is satin shoes. That is why more bridal shoes are made out of satin fabric. The reason behind is that satin shoes reflect more light than other types of shoes. So if you choose satin shoes, then you can let your bridesmaid use crepe shoes instead. This is to keep the spotlight on you and not on the bridesmaid.

Next is the color. What color is best?

It is hard to find one that perfectly match or even give a subtle contrast of the wedding gowns. The best option here is to find dyeable shoes. Just get the design that you like then you can have it dyed professionally so that the shoes will complement the gown perfectly, or perhaps get the precise finish that will contrast the gowns.

Dyeable shoes are perfect to get a monochromatic effect from the bridal shoes to the bridesmaids’ shoes. For example, you get a daring burgundy shade for your shoes. This hue will suit perfectly with your ivory or off-white wedding gown. Then for your bridesmaids, you can have a lighter shade of wine-colored. This will give good color coordination with your shoes without removing the spotlight from you. That is what we call a splendid choice for wedding shoes and bridesmaids shoes.
