Best man at a Scottish wedding – what should I wear under my kilt?
My friend is getting married later this year, and I’m going to be his best man. Only thing is, it’s a Scottish wedding, so I’m having to wear a kilt! He’ll be kilted too, obviously, along with the ushers, and (apparently) so will a most of the guys there. It’s going to be a big traditional wedding, so there’s be a ceilidh band and Scottish dancing and all the rest, so I suppose at least I will look the part…
The big question is, though, should I go without underwear beneath my kilt??? The groom says he’ll be going ‘true scotsman’, and so will a lot of the others, and he’s trying to persuade me to follow tradition, but I’m pretty nervous about wearing the kilt, let alone going naked under it!
(Especially given the amount of alcohol that will likely be flowing at the reception!)
So do you reckon I should go for it? Or is it best to play safe and save myself any embarrassment?

It’s definitely a proper Scottish wedding: the bride is Scottish, the groom is Scottish, and the wedding is in Scotland! You can’t get much more Scottish than that
I’m wearing the same tartan as the groom, because I’m his best man.
