My sister – she is the second eldest of my two biological sisters – is getting married in 6 weeks. She has sent me pictures of dresses she likes and her measurements – without asking me if I would do it to start with. I emailed her back and told her I would do it but it would cost her the amount of the materials which I worked out to be around £250. She got back to me and said that she shouldn’t have to because we’re related. She seems to think that I am being unreasonable by saying unless she pays I am not doing it. She’s 27 and she went to our mum and told her I was being unfair and unreasonable by refusing to make the dress unless she paid for the materials.
If it was anyone else I would be charging them more that I am her. If she had invited me to the wedding I would not have charged her anything as it would have been my gift to her, even though I wouldn’t be attending anyway. Am I being unreasonable?

I want to make a Lolitta type style of dress I just need help knowing where and how to start. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks a lot.

My fiance and I have decided we’re actually going to get married – we originally decided we would just get engaged and have a long engagement without actually intending to get married to keep his mother off our backs as she constantly went on and on about how we should get married.
Well I’ve wanted to get married in my late mum’s wedding dress for quite a while but many people including my fiance and father think I should get married in a different dress. My mum’s dress is old, it’s much older than she was because it’s made up of bits of my great grandmother’s dress, my grand mother’s dress and some new silk (well it was new at the time). Some parts of the dress are over 100 years old. It’s got sleeves made of victorian lace, and it’s close fitting at the top but the skirt puffs out a little at the hips. It’s really odd dress compared to many dresses you see these days. It’s not even pure white as it used to be because my father didn’t store it properly.

Should I get married in the dress or just buy my own new one?
