This video was recorded at a live programme in the Gurdwara and we apologise for the quality of the sound which is not brilliant. Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE performed an “Anand Kaaraj” (Sikh marriage Ceremony) of Bibi Herjinder Kaur Chauhan’s son in Coventry. Before the “Palla Ceremony” (giving of the bride by the father) she gives advice to the couple as required by the “Sikh Maryada” and then sings the Shabad “Pallay Taniday Laaggee” with her group while the father of the bride gives the hem of the scarf of the groom in bride’s hand. Written by Guru Ramdas Ji in Siree Raag Ki Vaar this Shabad is scribed on page 91 of Siree Guru Granth Sahib Ji. What do you think about a bride wearing lilac, it has a wee matching shawl and i was going to get silver sandals etc

Help with wedding or advice?

Good evening,

Does anybody know any good websites where I can post a request for help, or any ideas how about how I can get help.

My problem, my girlfriend and I are looking to get married, but we have been turned down by my bank for a loan. We are hoping for £10,000 and would be willing to pay back over 5 years or more if the case be. I would be happy to use my car as security and I am in full time employment. We are hoping to find a way to do this with-out have to use a loan shark company or that kind of company that ask for stupid interest.
We are already saving as had as we can, so would like this loan just to help use go ahead,
Any help you could give would be most welcomed.
Just an update which I should have put before, because my fiancée is Thai she is currently Thailand due to finish her univeristy in the next 2 months. Most of the money would be used for a dowry payment (sin sod). Because she is “traditional” in thinking she does not want to upset her parents, so although we are trying to negation the amount she will no forgo it. As otherwise it would be quite easy just to save up while been together. As we would both be able to get jobs in the UK. The wedding itself will just be a low key even to keep costs down.
Cheers

Advice for Choosing your Wedding Veil

1. A veil can transform the simplest dress into a stunning Bridal outfit.

2. Try lots of different styles and lengths of veil in different fabrics to find the one that best compliments your outfit.

3. Don’t have a heavily patterned veil with a very ornate dress as one will ‘fight’ with the other.

4. Your guests should say ‘YOU look stunning’, not your outfit looks stunning’.

5. Don’t have a veil that cuts across detail at the back of the dress. Let the veil finish below the decoration. Silk tulle is sheer enough to allow decoration to show through.

6. If you are petite, don’t have a veil that swamps you such as a high bouffant veil. It will only make you look smaller

7. Think of adding colour eg. embroidery, to the veil to link in with your bridesmaids and/or bouquet.

8. Remember the veil is part of the Bridal outfit, not something that is ‘plonked’ on your head as an after thought.

9. Don’t forget to take your veil with you when you have your hair trial.

10. If you are nervous of pressing your veil, ask the store where you bought it if they will steam it a couple of days before the wedding. You can transport it home covered in a pillow case or duvet cover depending on its length.

11. Don’t wear something because you think you should, wear what YOU want.

12. Don’t make a decision about whether to wear a veil or not until you have tried some on with your dress. A long veil can create a wonderful ‘aura’ around you.

13. Don’t forget you can have a veil made to measure just as you can a dress. You can have the exact length and decoration that YOU want.

14.You only wear a veil once so make the most of it and enjoy it!

I have more than two decades of knowledge and experience since graduating in Fashion and Textile Design from University of Westminster, London. Previously I worked as a Costume Designer for BBC TV in London and Cardiff, where I was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru award for best Costume Design. After, I ran a successful couture Bridal Design Studio using sumptuous silk fabrics and was awarded Fellowship of the Society of Artists and Designers. My love of natural fabrics and the drama of weddings has led me to specialise in designing and making couture silk wedding veils. I am probably the only couture Bridal veil designer specialising solely in bespoke silk veils.

I have to choose my options soon and i have a few jobs that i want to do but i dont know what subjects i would need to take. 1.I would love to own a beauty salon 2. Something in fashion 3. A wedding/party planner
I am in the top sets at school and i am doing french and spanish gcse.
Has anyone got any advice about owning a salon, or jobs i could possibly do. Thanks x
