A pensioner became one of Scotland’s oldest bridegrooms when he married a lady 22 years his junior.
What are your views on the age difference please, will this marriage work

At those ages….they have a much greater chance of having a successful marriage….and it will probably last as long as the groom last….
I actually taught a girl to drivew who was 18 and she married a man of 73, only lasted 5 weeks unfortunately, I think she really was looking for some sort of father figure.
Of course it will they have been together for a long time before getting married.

He’s 96 years. She is 74. Bluntly speaking, I’d be more worried about waking up the next day in good health and not worrying so much about if I might get divorced.
My cousin has just celebrated a 102nd birthday, and I believe the last Tommy is something like 109 years, so it may last longer than a lot of younger marriages seem to these days.
Statistically, married men live longer than single ones (husband has just chipped in to say that it just seems longer)
It’s really not about the age, it’s whether or not it was for love. My guess is it was only for money for the girl, and sex for the old guy. So in the end, everyone wins. I bet they’ll stay married until he dies, but that probably won’t be very long..

Who really cares, apart from the married couple. I say good luck to them and I hope that they have every happiness, no matter for how long or how short.

Someone once asked George Burns (a TV and movie star in the U.S who died at about 99 years old) when he was 93 or 94 how old a man was when he no longer was interested in sex. His answer was “you’ll have to ask someone a lot older than me!”
When you get to be the age of these people the difference means nothing. If a man age 40 married a girl age 18 it would raise eyebrows, but their age difference would be immediately apparent. Not likely the case with 96 and 74.
If everyone stays out of their business and leaves them alone the marriage will work fine. It’s not like they’re two young kids who “rushed into things”.

Sure why not. I think the age gap has more to do with both ratio and where you are in life.

My step father was 28 years older than my mother and she passed first. He was so torn up by it that he refused to see us children again.
