5 Tips For A Memorable Wedding Toast

The Toast!

Weddings are so much fun. The week before everybody is arriving, old friends seeing each other for the first time in too long, Aunt Betty still amazed that you’re getting married, and keeping your brother under control once the wine bottles are cracked open. The bustle and festivities consume you and you just fall in love all over again for the world to see. It’s great!

This was the scene at my best friend’s wedding two years ago. She was just so happy to have everybody together! The bachelorette party was the most fun any of us had enjoyed since college; and it was great to meet her entire family and all the mania that existed in that! Her and her fiancé were so happy and laid back that it spread to the rest of us. Then she turns to me in the middle of all and says, “Do you have your toast ready?”

Dun dun dun.

I can still hear those notes beating in my heart as the panic immediately took over! “Oh yeah, I have some ideas….” -Not! What was I going to do!? I had nothing. All those weddings I had been to and I never realized that the maid of honor gave a speech, I felt so horrible and nervous. Did I mention how nervous I was?

The day progressed and I still had no idea what I would say. And a friend of mine, who saw the panic flush my face, said, “Alicia, chill out, just say what you feel.” What choice did I have, nobody else had given me any advice, so I did what she said. It was great; I think her mom cried and her brother laughed.

So, I’m here to give you that same advice, calm down and just say how you feel. Here are a few simple tricks:

1.) Be Excited!

Swallow the lump in your throat and be energized by it. Instead of dwelling on how nervous you are, just say, “I’m excited!” and get to work on writing your speech or at least knowing what message you want to get across.  How often do you get a chance to tell a room of people what you think? And they all clap afterward, that’s just how it goes.

2.) Just Be Yourself.

Just be yourself. If you’re not the class clown, now is not be the time to break out your stand up act.  Just like Serena Williams doesn’t put on new shoes the day of the Wimbledon Downs, you do not need to try out a new personality the day of your speech. Just be yourself and people will relate to your sincerity.

3.) Know your audience.

There are more people in the room than your college buddies and some of those people are family and family friends who do not need to know how many times you can swear inside of a sentence. And the bride and groom probably do not want their family hearing that story about that one time when…Keep your toast appropriate for everybody present.

4.) Prepare and Practice.

Hopefully you are realizing before the wedding day that you will be giving a speech. Writing your speech out helps, and practice makes perfect. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but if you want to seem polished and prepared; a little preparation and practice go a long way. I often find the visualizing how the speech will go many times beforehand is the best practice. Imagine it going just how you planned and when you give your toast, it will come out more naturally than you expected.

5.) Remember, It’s a Gift!

A toast is a gift of your words. Bask in the joy of the new couple’s love and take the opportunity to really give that gift. It is an honor to speak at somebody’s wedding and I suggest that you take this opportunity to deliver a heartfelt message to your loved ones.

Wedding toasts can be emotional, funny, sentimental and romantic; just keep in mind these simple tips and you will do great.

Day Spa New York – Unwind and Enjoy

Day spa New York is something to look forward to. Nonetheless, that isn’t one particular day spa because in reality those words refer to a dozen day spas that one could go to in New York. But are we thinking a similar thing if we hear the words “day spa”?

Allow us to concentrate on the term “spa” first. According to a number of on-line reference, this is a word that’s generally associated with water treatment that is also known as balneotherapy. Several health remedies are actually available in spa towns or spa resorts. This took it’s origin from an idea that mineral waters have healing powers which go as far as the the prehistoric era. This particular idea has found its way to the entire planet, specifically in parts of Europe and also Japan. As for the origins of the term, it was taken from from the name of the town of Spa in Belgium. At first, the name of the town of Spa in the Roman times was Aquae Spadanae.

But how did spa wind up in the US? The answer to this is that a few European colonist introduced the idea of warm water therapy for medical purposes as well as other benefits towards the indigenous people. Ultimately, these practice of using hot water treatment developed. So as the year reached 1760, English colonists were traveling to cold and hot springs in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia in searching for water cures. These days, the so called hot water treatment developed in to modern day spas that included other services apart from hot water alone.

Day spa New York are placed just about anyplace these days. You will see them from uptown malls up to boutique city locations. In some parts of the city, no matter what block you turn, you can see an establishment that provides day spa services. Actually, you can even find day spas that are incredibly compacted having just a simple reception desk and a couple treatment rooms. On the other hand, they could be bigger with a full complement of facilities which includes a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, yoga studio, fully-equipped gym and a lot of other treatment rooms. Because of all of these amenities and services, being a customer, you can combine two, three or a lot of available treatment options. Kick back and have a long dip in the hot steam bath, enjoy a work out in a cardiovascular exercise suite and feel your stress vanish entirely.

Numerous day spa treatments can be classified in to three primary types; first, day spas which can help you loosen up; second, day spas which will concentrate on beautifying you; and lastly, day spas that can provide you with both services. Most of these you will see in a day spa New York, or should I say in day spas located in the Big Apple.

In the big apple, in the middle of the accepted treatments are facials, manicures and pedicures, waxing, relaxing Swedish massage, knot-busting Thai massage, head massage, exfoliating body scrubs, and skin-nourishing body wraps.

Besides offering relaxation and beauty, many day spas are really designed as a remedy to the very busy and stressful lifestyle. Day spas are a place for just about anybody. It is additionally recommended as a great way of spending a bachelorette party. So for New Yorkers, regardless of whether you are searching for a place for relaxation or beauty, you really should go to a day spa New York.

The way we get married is somewhat different to 20-30 years ago. Back then we all got married in either a church or a registry office. So what else has changed in the way we wed and is it for the best?

The economic boom and emergence of Japan onto the global market during the 1980s, brought an additional change of bridal dress, the western style white wedding gown. Simply put, the point of a bridal shower is to give gifts. They cannot replace the problems of the wedding night, but perhaps they can ease the pocket book or send you a gift or even flowers to your bridal party, etc. My shyness about wedding-related attention mostly comes out when the topics of bridal showers or bachelorette parties come up. Every couple should offer their guests wedding favors, no matter the style, season or location of the wedding.

Great entertainment ideas for your wedding include; photographers, video graphers, disc jockey services, and thousands of resources categorized by city. Resorts and hotels in hot areas are becoming increasingly proactive in their wedding business by putting together packages and offering more services for those seeking wedding services. There are almost too many retailers of green gifts to mention these days, and many offer registry services.

The Best Man and Groomsmen leave the wedding reception to purchase decorations for the bride and grooms car. Weddings are an important day in the lives of the bride, groom and their parents. We have wedding information for the bride, groom, best man, bridesmaids, ushers, wedding venues, a wedding shop, directory of wedding suppliers, jokes, wedding speeches, traditions, myths, rings and much more. Wedding ceremonies often depended on when the groom could get a furlough or leave, and these were often scheduled on very short notice. Decide before hand if you are the type of bride/groom that wants to know about situations as they arise or want to be kept out of the loop and just enjoy the evening. The average bride in Australia is now 28 years old and her groom is 30. Too often, the bride and groom find themselves rushing around making arrangements, making sure the limousine arrives on time; that the DJ plays the right songs at the right time, that the right people get photographed at the best time, and they are not really enjoying a day that is supposed to be the happiest of their lives. It is also unlucky for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before until she arrives at the ceremony. And when you talk of Filipino weddings, you would know that weddings here in this country is not just a family affair—it’s a celebration that involves, most often than not, the entire clans of the bride and groom.

Brides, often out of necessity and sometimes out of patriotism wore practical suits or short day dresses during the wartime years. The bridesmaids each have a single leather rose to keep and they won’t ever wilt or die. As always though the bride loves to choose the most beautiful wedding petals

for the service. When in mourning, brides could wear a black, gray, or lavender color dress.

All I can say is I wish you the best of luck in planning your wedding, and a long and happy marriage.
